EVA for Cosplay | Workshop

Description
Students will learn the basics of working with EVA foam for cosplay, each student will get to take home a full 24″ x 60″ roll of EVA foam. This includes patterning, gluing, detail work, and how to paint & finish it. They will get hands-on experience with cutting out patterns, gluing, and some detail work. Final touches and painting will be left to the students.
Instructor
Ainsley has been cosplaying professionally for 6 years and in her time has won many awards for her work such as Best in Show, Best Overall in Category, and 3rd in Masters. She’s made practical effects for films, has created costumes for Evermore. and has worked with Red Bull Media House in their E-Sports division.
Class Breakdown
Patterning
Students will get to pick from a selection of patterns that they get to work on. They will also learn the basics on why they are used and ways to make a pattern.
Assembly
Students will cut the pieces out of their pattern and glue them together to form a 3-dimensional costume part.
Details
Students will explore different options and tools for adding details to their part including how to use knives, rotary tools, heat tools, etc. to achieve different effects.
Finishing
Students will learn about different options to prime and paint their parts in order to get different types of looks.
